Matt is married to his wife Amy of 25 years. They have 5 children and live in Encinitas.

Matt is an avid swimmer, surfer, sailor & winemaker. Matt is a former tall ship captain, licensed by the United States Coast Guard, and has sailed tall ships everywhere from Maine and New England to the Florida Keys, the Caribbean, Hawaii & California. Matt last served aboard the Tall Ship Californian, a 145 ft. Square Topsail Schooner, which has been designated the Official Tall Ship of the State of California and is now docked in San Diego Bay at the San Diego Nautical Heritage Society.
